Homeopathy is a safe, gentle and effective system of medicine which has no side effects, is  non-toxic, not addictive, yet is powerful enough to treat a wide range of diseases.   Homeopathy is essentially a natural healing process, using minute doses of natural substances to stimulate the body's own natural healing ability.  It is pleasant to take, and the effects can often be immediate. Homeopathy concentrates on treating the patient, rather than the disease, seeing the symptoms as the body's reaction against the illness as it attempts to overcome it and seeks to stimulate and not suppress this reaction.  It takes a wider view of the illness/disease, its causes and the way in which people individually express their illness.

Homeopathy can help everyone from the youngest baby to the oldest among us, treating chronic and acute disease effectively.   Homeopathy can be beneficial in treating a number of conditions including:

  • Premenstrual tension
  • Fertility problems
  • Menopausal complaints
  • IBS
  • Allergic disorders: Asthma, eczema and hayfever
  • Skin problems: psoriasis and acne
  • Anxiety and insomnia
  • Blood pressure problems
  • Cystitis
  • Migraines
  • Arthritis
  • In children: Colic, teething, glue ear, ADHD, autism
  • During pregnancy: Minor ailments including heartburn, nausea and vomiting, constipation, mild urinary tract infections

In addition to helping with physical symptoms, it can also offer powerful emotional support and can be used as a preventative medicine.  It can be used very successfully alongside conventional medicine if need be, to help alleviate side effects, and offers very valuable support in the withdrawal of drugs, prescribed or not, and alcohol.

What does treatment involve?

The initial consultation generally lasts 60 to 90 minutes.  You will be asked not only about your illness, but also about you as a person and your lifestyle.  This allows the homeopath to gain a good understanding of you as a whole person, rather than looking purely at the disease.  You will usually be given a tablet/remedy or a course of tablets, and a follow up consultation will be arranged to assess your progress.  The first appointment also includes a full energy balance.  Subsequent appointments are usually at 4, 6 or 8 week intervals, or may be longer in some cases.  These last for about 45 to 60 minutes and also include a full energy balance.

Although the beneficial effects of treatment should felt fairly quickly, the length of treatment time for any one person cannot be predicted, and a chronic complaint may sometimes take longer than an acute complaint.

One of the principles of Homeopathy is that people vary in their response to an illness according to their basic temperament.   A homeopath prescribes on an individual basis and does not automatically prescribe a specific remedy for a specific illness, as  patients suffering from the same disease often require different remedies.

If you feel unsure if Homeopathy is suitable for you, Moira is offering a free 10 minute appointment, either in person or by phone,  for anyone wishing to discuss this.  However, no advice or prescription will be given during this session.
